OMESTI Coding Camp Inspires Youngsters With ‘Empire Strikes Back’ Experience
A group of 25 youngsters from various countries recently had the opportunity to try their hand at coding during an intensive 3-day Coding Camp. Organised by OMESTI and hosted in Kuala Lumpur by the Ideas Academy, the event was led by certified Coding Trainers from Empire Code of Singapore and assisted by volunteers from OMESTI. Many of the youngsters attending the Coding Camp were undocumented or from underprivileged backgrounds.
During the programme, organised as one of the activities under OMESTI’s ANAHO Foundation, the youngsters were introduced to HTML5/CSS coding. By the end of the three days, the majority were able to understand and complete basic coding exercises. After completing the workshop, the students received an achievement certificate. The Coding Camp followed on from an introductory ‘Hour of Coding Taster’ held in late 2018.
The ANAHO Foundation is designed to help young people be the best they can be, to maximise their potential and enrich their lives. By providing access to education and exposure to diverse experiences, the aim is to inspire a quest for knowledge, promote core values and understanding of culture, encourage them to be professional and business-minded and act with integrity.
